PI: Dr. Jacqueline Walubwa , PhD
Funder: Graduate Institute Geneva

PI: Prof. Samson Maobe, PhD
Funder: African Development Bank (AfDB) through the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives

PI: Prof. Evans Basweti, PhD Led by Prof. Evans Basweti of Kisii University's School of Agriculture and Natural Resource Management, this two-year project aims to evaluate the agronomic performance and nutritional value of Napier grass, Bracharia, and Boma Rhodes as forages for dairy production in Trans Nzoia County, Kenya. With the decreasing farm sizes due to growing human populations and limited knowledge about the nutritional benefits of these forages, the research seeks to provide critical information on their production and energy content. The findings aim to support dairy farmers by enhancing forage options and improving the nutritional quality of feed for dairy cattle.

PI: Dr. Ronald Tombe, PhD Dr. Ronald Tombe, a researcher at Kisii University, is leading efforts to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation with Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) to enhance agricultural productivity and resilience to climate change. His work focuses on empowering small-scale farmers, particularly women and youth, by providing AI-powered tools for climate forecasting, crop management, and market access, while preserving cultural heritage. Through initiatives such as big data platforms, youth training in data science, and the creation of Agricultural Social Networks (ASNs), Dr. Tombe is fostering transdisciplinary collaborations to bridge the gap between traditional farming practices and modern technology, ultimately promoting equity, sustainability, and resilience in agriculture.
We welcome collaborations with industry, civil society, government and international research donors.
